The Michigan Energy Code implementing the 2015 International Energy Conservation Code is in effect until March 22, 2025 at which time the State will implement the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code.
Until the electronic and hard copies are available from the International Code Council (ICC), one can use the 2021 IECC with the Part 10a. Michigan Amendments for the 2021 Michigan Commercial Energy Code. The bureau will notify the public when each code's electronic and hard copy versions are available for purchase and update the code book information on our website, which links to ICC for purchase.
The rules allow the use of either the ASHRAE 90.1 or the Michigan amended version of the 2021 IECC.
