Michigan House Bill 5055 of 2021 would make changes to the review criteria for those seeking to obtain a reciprocal Michigan skilled trades license without sitting for a Michigan licensing exam. As proposed, the bill would extend a provision that was provided in Public Act 407 of 2016 ONLY for members of the armed forces, veterans, and their dependents to now include ALL applicants. It would also remove the requirement for all applicants for a reciprocal license that the qualifications in the state where they currently hold a license be substantially equivalent to the requirements for Michigan.
