General Membership Meeting
Friday, April 28, 2017; 12:00 PM

M I N U T E S
The meeting of the Mechanical Inspectors Association of Michigan, Inc. was opened by President Nightlinger at 12:00 P.M. Mr. Shields welcomed and thanked all present for their support in making this a great Conference, noting that approximately 100 inspectors were in attendance. It was noted that a quorum was present and accounted for.
PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Ken Nightlinger
President Nightlinger reported to the membership the importance of returning evaluation sheets and made general comments about speakers, times of programs, credit hours, etc., thanking the Board and Staff for their excellent work in providing a strong Conference Agenda. All past presidents were asked to stand to be acknowledged. He also noted the value of getting involved in the organization.
A. The President thanked the following companies for contributing sponsorships and prizes to the conference:
1. $2500 Johnstone Supply
2. $500 SMACNA
3. $500 Engineered Heating & Cooling
4. $250 Quality Stainless Mfg.
5. $250 Guardian Plumbing & Heating
6. $250 Burke Agency
7. $250 Air Works Heating
8. $250 Local Union 85
9. $125 International Radiant & Mechanical Systems
10. $100 Doherty Hotel – One night hotel and breakfast
B. He also thanked speakers and instructors and asked all past presidents to stand and be acknowledged for
their service.

E. At this time, President Nightlinger introduced the Officers inviting them to give comments as follows:
1. SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT'S REPORT: Keith Olsen – MIAM working hard to have
The best education to help ispectors through these confusing times.
2. VICE PRESIDENT'S REPORT: John Gross - The board is continuing to support the
efforts to provide the best education possible.
3. SECRETARY'S REPORT: Ed Bartram - General Membership Minutes October 14, 2016 were approved as posted
4. TREASURER'S REPORT: Brian Shields - Financial Statement for March 31, 2017 was approved - Balance is $66,195.78
5. DIRECTORS' REPORTS:
ICC, IFGC Liaison Mark Riley – ICC Annual Conf no code hearings
Region 1 & 2 Joseph Shaltz, Houghton County – Busy, need help
Region 3 Mark Hayne, Antrim County – Busy, lots of work
Region 4 Keith Olsen, Emmet County – work is up, need help
Region 5 Jim Callender, Independent – busy, need help
Region 7 Jerry Payne, Wyoming - busy,
Region 6 Allan Grabowski, Kimball – absent
Region 8 Robert Logan, AGS – work is booming
Region 9 William Paquette, Garden City – MMIA meetings every other month; new
Construction commencing; solicit new members.
F. Legislative Report –
1. State changing process for education program approvals
2. Confusion about interpretation of MRC15
G. Current Cycle -

1. Reminder to complete evaluation sheets for review
2. Election of Officers – Joe Otis presented the following slate to the membership:
Mr. Otis then presented the Oath of Office to the Officers who swore to uphold its convictions.
J. President Olsen then presented the outgoing plaque to Mr. Nightlinger who was thanked for his year of presidency.
There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 2 PM.
