The Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Construction Codes, will hold public advisory meetings on the amendments for the Michigan Energy Code. The proposed rulesets for both the commercial and residential codes are provided below.
There will be three consecutive public hearings on March 14, 15 and 16, 2022 at 9:00 am in the Michigan Historical Museum, 1st Floor Forum, 702 W. Kalamazoo St., Lansing, Michigan 48915.
The proposed rule sets (2021- 48 LR & 2021-49 LR) will adopt by reference the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code with amendments, deletions, and additions deemed necessary for use in Michigan. The 2021 International Energy Code addresses energy efficiency such as costs, energy uses, use of natural resources and the impact of energy usage on the environment.
Oral or written comments may be presented in person at the advisory meeting on March 14, 15 or 16th, or submitted in writing by email no later than 5:00 p.m., March 16, 2022, to the following email address LARA-BCC-Rules@michigan.gov. If your presentation at the advisory meeting is in written form, please provide a copy to the Rules Analyst, at the conclusion of your testimony.
